Street Art

Predict the meaning for the following words and write it in the first box. It can help to break the word up, do you recognize bits of the word that can act as a clue? Have a guess!

Then google search the word and write the dictionary definition in the box on the right to clarify the vocabulary.

Commission 

Commission is a price or fee you pay for something.

An instruction, command, or role given to a person or group.

Illegal

Illegal is against the law. Copyright.

Contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law.

Expression

Expression Is a certain way that you show something. E.g facial expression.

The action of making known one's thoughts or feelings.

Gesture

A realistic movement in artwork. 

A movement of part of the body, especially a hand or the head, to express an idea or meaning.

Contrasting

Two opposite things combining. E.g blue and orange contrasting is brown.

Differing strikingly.

Mythology

Mythology is a type of art connected to myths, legends, greek gods.

A Collection of myths, especially one belonging to a particular religious or cultural tradition.

Native

Something to do with where you live. Your culture is represented in your artwork.

A person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.

Location

The place where your art is located

A particular place or position.

Significant

The most prominent idea in the artwork.

Sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy.



Once completed- copy and paste your chart of definitions into a new blog post.

Next- google search for a piece of ‘Street Art in Christchurch’ and add it to your post, be sure to include the location and artist's name next to the image.
